Comfortable vs Uncomfortable

Since this is my first blog, I thought long and hard what my topic would be. I flipped and flopped all over the map of what I should write first…I have soooo much content to share on so many topics!

Then I realized nothing happens in your comfort zone if you just think about and don’t write and share it.

Which brings me to write this…how many of you are just coasting along and staying where it’s comfortable? I bet you have dreams and aspirations and never act on them.

I’ve had my own aspirations for as long as I can remember but family business responsibilities came into play. I knew I wanted to make a difference. How that was going to happen, I wasn’t quite sure but I just wanted to help people, especially women in some way. Pay it forward!

But life happened in a big way (more on that another time), and I knew I didn’t want to live with regrets.

I know there are a lot of women who want to take that risk and do something completely different. Nerves get the best of them and then play it safe in their comfort zone.

But what if you moved from that safe place and acted on your dreams? Just imagine what the possibilities could be!

Think of J.K. Rowling, if she hadn’t written Harry Potter books…where would she be today? She went way out of her comfort zone and look what happened!

This is just one example of ordinary women doing extraordinary things and that’s where the magic happens.

I’ve had this nagging feeling of “Jane…just do it” regarding my blog and vlog and launching my website. I don’t want to have any regrets. Plus I had to get over the fact of that voice of being validated by others…I obviously got over that or I wouldn’t be doing this!

Is it going to be perfect right off the hop? Of course not! Failing forward is the best way to learn, but doing nothing and just thinking of what if’s will keep you in your comfort zone. There is always a “flip side”!

Like the saying goes….”What if I fall? Oh, but my darling..what if you fly?” Erin Hanson
